As part of our growth and development Volo Aero MRO is working on ways to introduce the technologies of 3D printing into the workplace. Taking a maturing technology and applying it directly into practical usages in our production processes.

We have identified several areas where we can utilize 3D printing processes quickly and efficiently into our production area. We have used 3D nylon printed processes for inspection fixtures for our CMM, as well as 3D printed fixtures for our black oxide processing line.

The advantages of the process for us is the rapid speed of obtaining fixtures which meet our non critical dimension needs. For machining fixtures we have had limited success so far but we are gaining valuable experience in how the materials can be machined (ground) and the tolerances we can hold.
